Voices of Angels

Imagine this happening to you: you're just three years old when you have a vision! Hildegard von Bingen (1078-1179) revealed that at the age of five, she understood she was receiving visions. At the age of 42, Hildegard had a vision that she believed was an instruction from God: “And again I heard a voice from heaven saying to me: Make yourself heard and write it down!!” In that vision, she heard the music 'Voices of Angels' . A composition of rare beauty. Hildegard's angelic melody is about the veneration of women: from her womb all men came into being. She is the savior and makes earth and heaven harmonious. This music inspired the DoelenEnsemble to merge her work with Death Speaks , in which composer David Lang uses text from Schubert's song cycles, in which death speaks to us.
